whiskey is an alcoholic beverage with its alcoholic content ranging around 40 %. The varieties range differently in accordance with the different grains which are used for producing whiskey. The aged form of distilled and fermented grain will give
whisky which is then bottled and sold. The names are given to the whiskies mainly in the terrain in which the whiskey is being manufactured and the brand may depend upon the manufacturers of the whiskey. The whiskey may gain the value of rarity if it had been manufactured before a long time but gains specialty only with the increase in the time for maturing of whiskey. Whiskey cocktails are widely used complex beverage which are containing many compounds for the purpose of flavoring. Such complex beverage could be easily detected for the contents present in it by making chemical analysis over it. Some of the compounds which are used for flavoring include alcohol, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids along with the esters and tannins. It also contains compounds of nitrogen, sulphur and oxygen. Fusel oils are also used for flavoring and they contain high percentage of alcohol. Such flavors may become toxic if they are excessively added and hence care should be taken while flavoring is done. Distillation processes are variedly employed while removing such fusel oils which are found to be unnecessary in the preparation of whiskey. There are different procedures for carrying out the distillation and it differs in various countries. Distillation process finds very vital role in preparing and flavoring whiskey.
