Anjuna Beach
Anjuna Beach is one of the most popular beaches of Goa and is located 8 kilometers west of Mapusa. It is very famous for is fluroscent painted palm trees and full moon parties. The reason for most of the people coming to Goa is still the same as they were in the era of 1970s which mainly involved dancing and lying on the beach slurping tropical fruit. When you are enjoying your vacation in Goa and that also in Anjuna Beach you must visit the famous flea market which is also regarded as the shoppers’ paradise.
Baga Beach
This beach is one of the another popular beaches of Goa and forms a part of the 30 kilometers stretch of the beach coastline along the western coast of Goa by the Arabian Sea. It is located 10 kilometers west of Mapusa and is basically an extension of Calangute beach. The only difference between the northern end of the Baga beach and its center is that the scenery of the former side is more varied, scenic and unspoiled.
Fort Aquada
Fort Aquada is strategically located at the estuary of the River Mandovi. This fort was constructed in 1612 as a guard against the invasions from the Dutch as well as the Marathas. The walls of this fort are 5 meteres in height and the width is 1.3 meters. This remains to be the only fort in Goa which was not conquered at all all by any invaders during the long reign of the Portugese empire which existed for a span of 450 years.
Bhagawan Mahavir Sanctuary
The Bhagawan Mahavir Sanctuary extends upto an area of 240 kilometers and is regarded as the largest widlife preserve in the divine tourist destination. It is located at a very short distance to the Molem village at the foot of the Western Ghats and the sanctuary lies on the eastern borders of the state. It is in fact 53 kilometers away from the capital of the state, Panaji. The location of the widelife sanctuary amidst the natural splendour and also the decidious trees and evergreen forests make this a heavenly abode.
Benaulim Beach
The Benaulim beach has an interesting history related to Hindu mythology. According to the Hindu mythology the tourist paradise called Goa was created when Lord Vishnu’s sixth incarnation, the sage Shri Parasurama fired an arrow into the sea from the top of the Western Ghats and ordered the waters to recede. The spot where the shaft fell to earth was known in Sanskrit as “Banali”. Later it was distorted by the Portuguese to Benaulim. This great tourist attraction lies in the centre of Colva Beach, 7-km west of Margao.
