Buenos Aires
Buenos Aires is the capital city of Argentina and is also its largest city and important port. Located on the southeastern coast of South America, this historically effervescent city is located in the southern shore of the Rio de la Plata. The city has the presence of many places of historical interests, museums, shopping centers and amusement centers that surround the downtown area that includes Plaza de Mayo, Florida Street, San Telmo and Puerto Madero.

Plaza de Mayo:
Plaza de Mayo is the hub of activities in downtown Buenos Aires. It is surrounded by Hipolito Yrigoyen, Rivadavia Balcarce and Bolivar streets. Some of the city’s most important landmarks, carrying nationwide political, social and economical significance, can be spotted around the Plaza. These include the Cabildo (the city council during the colonial era), the Casa Rosada (home of the executive branch of the federal government), the May Pyramid, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, the current city hall or municipalidad and the headquarters of the Nacion Bank. La City as the Buenos Aires financial district is known as, is situated here itself.
Florida Street:
Florida Street is one of the city’s most happening tourist destinations. Considered as a graceful and well-designed street in downtown Buenos Aires, Florida Street is rich with a huge variety of shops selling jewelry, books, leather items and souvenirs. The commodities are affordable and after the devaluation of 2001, the prices have gone down so much that foreigners carrying hard cash find it really cheap. Certain stretches of the Florida Street has been pedestrianised since 1913 which starts when Peru Street crosses Avenida de Mao.
San Telmo:
San Telmo is an exquisite specimen of the colonial regime with the well preserved colonial houses and streets paved with the original cobblestones or adoquines. This area houses the oldest barrios or neighborhoods as they are famous for in Buenos Aires. Among the number of places to visit here, are the old churches like San Pedro Telmo Church, antique fair-which is semi permanent (Feria de Antiquedades), Plaza Dorrego, Museums, antique stores and so on. Tango which is very popular art form here is also very commonly found activity found here for locals and the tourists.
Puerto Madero:
Puerto Madero is also a neighborhood in Buenos Aires that is significant in the Rio de la Plata riverbank. The neighborhood has undergone changes in terms of road network and it has been rebuilt to facilitate transportation and easy traffic in recent years. An interesting fact about Puerto Madero is that all its streets are named after women.
